A hiking group running a day walk most fortnights and two or three Great Walks a year. A lot of our members had never tramped before they joined, so every trip is graded honestly and we lend spare gear rather than letting anyone buy a four-hundred-dollar pack for their first outing. We take the safety briefing seriously. New Zealand bush is not forgiving and the weather changes fast.
