We look after about two hundred owner-operated businesses — trades, IT contractors, restaurants, small importers. Annual accounts, GST, payroll and the tax planning conversation that should happen in February rather than the week before the return is due. Fixed monthly fee, agreed once a year. We do not bill for phone calls, because a client who is scared to ring their accountant ends up with a much bigger problem.
End-of-year financial statements and the income tax return for a company, trust or sole trader, plus a meeting to walk through what the numbers say about the year. We file provisional tax estimates based on what actually happened rather than last year's figure multiplied by 1.05, which is usually the difference between a refund and a surprise.
Bookkeeping, GST returns and payroll filing on a monthly cycle, with Xero set up so your bank feed reconciles itself most of the time. Includes payday filing and holiday pay calculated properly — the second one is where most small employers quietly get it wrong.
Company incorporation, IRD and GST registration, share structure, and a conversation about whether a company is even the right vehicle for what you are doing. We would rather spend an hour on the structure now than three years fixing it when you take on a partner.
